New Delhi is still likely to host matches for the 2011 World Cup despite concerns about the pitch, International Cricket Council president David Morgan has said.
Last month, the fifth and final ODI between Sri Lanka and India in New Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla ground was called off after 23.3 overs due to a dangerous pitch upon which the tourists had toiled to reach 83 for five.
"It's not our desire that a pitch in an important city, from a cricketing point of view, a place like Delhi, should face a lengthy ban, Morgan told TV news channel NDTV on Friday.
The stadium is due to stage four matches at the World Cup, to be jointly hosted with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from Feb. 19 to April 2, 2011.

Is '3 Idiots' the new 'Sholay'?

The film has grossed about Rs 240 crore in just 10 days of worldwide theatrical business and may touch the staggering Rs 300 crore figure,
according to most trade pundits, by the time it finishes its run.

'3 Idiots' has overtaken Aamir's own film Ghajini's collections, which held the previous record of the biggest business done by films in the post-multiplex era.

The film, apart from breaking Indian domestic market records, in this time has also emerged as the highest Bollywood earner even in the overseas markets. The film has done well in multiplexes as well as single screens despite its seemingly English title, which is considered a detterent in single-screen markets.

The film has given exhibitors a huge relief. Managing director of G7 Cinemas Manoj Desai said, "2009 had been very bad for exhibitors but 'Paa' and '3 Idiots' came and saved us. In fact '3 Idiots' has created history at the box office and I can easily call it the new Sholay of Bollywood."

"In many ways this is a mysterious success. Everyone knew that this film might do well but this is enormous and cuts across various segments. It has come during one of the darkest periods of Indian box-office history," a trade insider said.

filmmakers, saying he would like to put a lid on the controversy and "move on".

The author, whose book 'Five Point Someone' became the basis for the film, had accused the producers of not giving him due credit in the movie.

"I definitely do not have anything against team '3 Idiots'. I may have some issues on the mistake they may have made but nothing about their personality or the kind of people they are. I apologise to their families if there was any distress caused to them," Bhagat told a news channel.

"I also want to thank all my fans, who stood by me but I don't want them to turn against anyone especially

Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton FRS (4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727 [OS: 25 December 1642 – 20 March 1727])[1] was an English physicistmathematicianastronomernatural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian who is perceived and considered by a substantial number of scholars and the general public as one of the most influential scientists in history. His 1687 publication of the Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (usually called the Principia) is considered to be among the most influential books in the history of science, laying the groundwork for most of  mechanics. In this work, Newton described universal gravitation and the three laws of motion which dominated the scientific view of the physical universe for the next three centuries. Newton showed that the motions of objects on Earthand of celestial bodies are governed by the same set of natural laws by demonstrating the consistency between Kepler's laws of planetary motion and his theory of gravitation, thus removing the last doubts about heliocentrism and advancing the scientific revolution.
Newton also built the first practical reflecting telescope[7] and developed

Sir Isaac Newton FRS (4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727 [OS: 25 December 1642 – 20 March a theory of colourbased on the observation that a prism decomposes white light into the many colours that form the visible spectrum. He also formulated an empirical law of cooling and studied thespeed of sound.
In mathematics, Newton shares the credit with Gottfried Leibniz for the development of the differential and integral calculus. He also demonstrated the generalised binomial theorem, developed the so-called "Newton's method" for approximating the zeroes of a function, and contributed to the study of power series.
Newton remains influential to scientists, as demonstrated by a 2005 survey of members of Britain's Royal Society (formerly headed by Newton) asking who had the greater effect on the history of science, Newton or Albert EinsteinRoyal Society scientists deemed Newton to have made the greater overall contribution.[8] In 1999, leading physicists from all over the world voted Einstein "greatest physicist ever;" Newton was the runner-up.[9]

Newton was also highly religious, though an unorthodox Christian, writing more on Biblical hermeneutics than the natural science he is remembered for today.

Cleanup begins after oil leak in China's Yellow river branch

Sun, Jan 3 12:01 PM
Beijing, Jan 3 (IANS) A pipeline oil leak that led to fuel flowing into a major branch of the Yellow river has been brought under control, China National Petroleum Corporation has said.
The leak took place in northwest China's Shaanxi province.
The company said Saturday that it has immediately shut down the pipeline due to the accident, which led to 'large amounts' of diesel fuel leaking into the Chishui river as well as the Weihe river - a major branch of the Yellow river. The leak was discovered early Wednesday.
The Shaanxi provincial government said the oil leaked from a branch of the Lanzhou-Zhengzhou-Changsha pipeline.
The leakage site was near the Chishui river in Huaxian county, 3 km upstream the Weihe river and 73 km upstream the Yellow river, the authorities said.
The company has built 23 blocking belts on the rivers and the government built three more dams to prevent leaked oil from flowing into the Yellow river.
So far, much of the leaked oil and polluted silt has already been taken away, according to the company.
Despite the cleanup, oil has been detected in the river water 33 km downstream of the leakage site, the government said.
It added that it has warned the local residents not to use the river water directly as the leakage may pollute the Yellow river.
