Nigeria rebels attack oil pipeline

Armed men in the Niger delta of Nigeria say they have attacked an oil pipeline overnight, putting a two-month truce with the government in doubt.
A faction of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said it attacked the pipeline.
A spokesman said it was because the government was delaying peace talks due to the absence of ill President Umaru Yar'Adua, who is in Saudi Arabia.
Attacks have cost Nigeria millions in lost revenue over the years.
The faction said, in an e-mailed statement, that the "warning strike" was carried out by 35 men on five boats with assault rifles, rocket launchers and heavy-calibre machine guns.
It said the pipeline was in Abonemma, about 50km (30 miles) west of Port Harcourt.
Nigeria's military has not commented on the attack.
Peace talks were suspended when President Yar'Adua was hospitalised in late November in Saudi Arabia.
Mend said it would review the ceasefire within 30 days.
"While the Nigerian government has conveniently tied the advancement of talks on the demands of this group to a sick president, it has not tied the repair of pipelines, exploitation of oil and gas as well as the deployment and re-tooling of troops in the region to the president's ill health," it said.

4-year-old gets drunk, steals neighbour's Christmas presents!

London, Dec 19 (ANI): Four-year-old Hayden Wright broke into a neighbour's place at midnight pocketing five Christmas presents under a tree, after getting drunk.
Police found Hayden wobbling round the street with a beer can in his hand.
He was also wearing a brown dress he had nicked.
Cops immediately took him to the hospital where doctors found that he had suffered from alcohol poisoning.
According to the police, Hayden stole a Budweiser from the fridge before he made his way into a neighbour's house in Chattanooga, Tennessee, US, through an unlocked front door.
After Hayden was treated and gained consciousness he told cops that he wanted to be arrested so that he could be with his dad who was in jail.
"He runs away trying to find his father. He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail," the Sun quoted Hayden's mum, April, as saying.
"Kids do things like this - it's out of your control. You do the best you can as a mother, but everyone makes mistakes," she added. (ANI)

"Avatar" midnight screenings pull in $3.5 mln

Director James Cameron's big-budget film "Avatar" took in $3.5 million at its initial midnight screenings on Friday in the United States and Canada, ticket tracker Hollywood.com Box Office said on Friday.

In April 2008, in a windowless Los Angeles warehouse where Howard Hughes built his airplanes some 70 years earlier, James Cameron, in a hockey jersey and jeans, was doing something élite directors do not do — holding a camera. "Why can't I see anything?" he yelled from an apparently empty warehouse floor to a small crew huddled over computer monitors in a corner. "Oh, oh, oh, I'm in the monster's head!" Cameron backed up, and a peek through his camera lens revealed blackness giving way to a thick and vivid rain forest where a tall, blue, alien version of Sigourney Weaver was battling the monster whose head had just blocked the director's view. On the warehouse floor there was no rain forest, no monster, no Weaver — just a bunch of guys and their computers. But Cameron's camera was allowing him to shoot inside a virtual universe of his own creation. He swooped in over the monster's shoulder and entered the world of Avatar.
